How about a great and dreadful day. There are a lot of second coming lessons
coming up. If they are on time, it will be great and you do something that
they would really like and the late ones it is dreadful and they get a test
or reading with someone else. You can advertize it and tell them to be sure
to come or you could say it is close and not give the exact day. They would
get the point! I try to always start on time and have something enjoyable
the first five minutes like a SM game or object lesson that others miss that
are late.

Subject: [Teachldsseminary] Ideas????
My students have been struggling since Christmas. I teach 14 Juniors and
Seniors.. They are coming later and later each day and I feel like nothing
I teach seems to be getting through. They are all good kids basically. As
I have spoken with other teachers in my Stake they tell me they have faced
the same things. My goal as a teachers is to help them feel in their hearts
what they know in their minds and then to act on it. I know my students
believe the gospel is true but "so what."
In our Sunday School booklet it gives an idea for Familiy Discussion. It
gave me a spring board for an idea but I don't have a lot of creativity and
so I was wondering if others with "creative juices" could help me out. It
says to make a meal to serve your family. You serve them and give them
very, very, small portions. The purpose of this acitivity is to discuss
"feasting upon the scriputres." What also came to my mind is that our
Heavenly Father has laid out a magnificent feast for all of us to partake of
yet we seem to be happy to just take a little here and a little there. One
particular blessing (or part of the feast) is Patriarchal Blessings. They
can bless our lives and fill us with peace etc. but only two students out of
my 14 have theirs. I guess my goals is to try to help them understand that
they are living well below their privileges and blessings only because they
are not partaking.
I would love any ideas on this for my seminary class.
Laurie
