There are some great personal reading charts out there that students can put
in their own scriptures.

For the classroom, I had a large red poster (R=read E=every D=day) with
each student's name on it listed down the left side. I used 1/4 inch graph
paper and had 200 squares next to each student's name. They knew that when
they arrived in class each day, they were to go to the poster and put a dot
(colored markers) in the next square next to their name. Every 50 day was
highlighted. This meant that as soon as they reached that day, they earned a
small incentive. Our CES Director provided inscribed pens, lanyards, water
bottles, pins, etc for these incentives.

I found that having their names listed on the poster was a positive peer
pressure for some of my students. After7 years of teaching I never had
anyone express embarrassment because their chart was not as filled in as
others...

We, too, played team games to encourage daily reading: in the Fall we played
football - BYU Cougars vs. OSU Buckeyes; winter was Connect four, Rubber
bands around tennis balls, tower building, etc; Spring was baseball. Many
games can easily be adapted to fit this need!
