I used the trading cards for 1st semester and then switched to "talents"  and 
"Shekels" for the 2nd semester.  The kids kept asking if we were going  to 
use the trading cards again.  I'm glad we didn't do it the whole year  because 
then they never became bored with it.
 
I handed out random cards (they could draw a card from a stack faced down)  
for being on time all week, saying prayers, devotionals and sometimes for  
winning a game.  They kept the cards in clear plastic baseball card holders  in 
their binders. They each had a list of subsets. Every couple of weeks, I gave  
them a chance to trade to complete their sets.  They loved it!
