Here are some questions to review 1 Sam. 1 -2, that you can use in a
game format. I downloaded a simple game board online, but you can use any
simple children's game board (Chutes & Ladders, etc.) for this. Each team
gets a Token to move along the game board. I cut apart the scriptures into
strips and mixed them up. Then after reviewing the chapters with the
students, we began the game. My point in doing this is to see how the
different characters in the story are becoming more Christlike, or if their
actions are taking them away from Christ.
I divided the class into two teams; I pulled a scripture strip and read
them the reference. One person on the first team takes a turn to answer, is
the character in that verse going towards Christ or away? If they get it
wrong, the next person on the other team can "steal" by giving what should
now be an obvious answer. To keep them on their toes, I DO NOT repeat the
scripture reference--I expect everyone in the class turning in their
scriptures as we go, to be ready to answer. If you get the answer correct,
you can roll a dice to see how many spaces on the game board you can
travel. Of course, each team is trying to get to the Finish space on the
game board first.
Another way to play: if the answer is "Away from Christ," the player can
choose to move either team's token Backwards the number of spaces they
roll. For an "Away from Christ" answer, you could require the player to
tell you what the character should do to repent and turn towards Christ.
Anyways, have fun with this; throw in extra questions, or stop the game
periodically and discuss what the characters are doing, what the
consequences of their actions would be, how is this similar to things we do
in our lives.

In the chart below, you will see the scripture reference, the correct
answer, and a brief summary of why that should be the answer. There are
also a few questions to review what Samson and Ruth each did to move towards
or away from Christ, just for fun. Nora
