[Teachldsseminary] Apostles

I taught my class the First Presidency and 12 apostles through a memory
game. First, I handed them a sheet of paper with all of the apostles names
and blank spaces to fill out. I had them fill out the First Attempt column.
This was to see if they could place the names in order in the appropriate
boxes. I gave them about 5 minutes. Next I told them that I would teach them
the names and within just a few short minutes they would know them. This is
how I did it: I found pictures online that I used to associate with each
apostle. Monsoon for Monson, etc... Then I made up a crazy story. I placed
one picture at a time on the board and began the story. In telling it I
would begin it again, each time I added a picture. In about 5 minutes I was
done and the students now had the apostles memorized. They were soooo
surprised at how well they did on their second attempt. It really worked!

I did this two weeks ago, so we didn't yet know the new apostle. It would be
easy to fit him into the ending.

This is the story, and if you would like the pictures and worksheet I will
e-mail them to you.

There once was a *monsoon* it blew away an *eye ring*, "*Oook*" said a
little *dwarf* when he was whacked in the head by the ring. The little dwarf
loved to pack things, he was a *packer.* He loaded his suitcases with *
Perrier.* When he arrived at his destination*,* he heard Willie *Nelson* who
was singing under an* oak* tree*. *He was singing his favorite
*ballad.*Money began to come out of his mouth. It was
*worth*less though, it had pictures of a* Scottie* instead of a President on
it. With the fake money he h*ailed* a taxi. It took him to *Holland*. The
taxi turned into a *bed…* *naw…* a kitchen with a *Cook*. He finally ended
up in General Conference awaiting the ending of the story.

The crazier the story the easier to remember!
