Something that I have found helpful throughout the years (I learned from a
fellow Seminary teacher) was to go through and mark the footnotes. I used
red to highlight the lettered footnotes that dealt with GR, HEB, IE, and
also highlighted the corresponding letters in the verses in red. I used
blue to highlight all of the JST footnotes. That way, when I'm reading a
scripture block and I wonder if there is a clearer meaning of the word, I
can see that there is a red, or blue notation and can immediately jump down
to the footnotes to see the added insight.
It's easier to look in the footnotes first to highlight the letters. Many
times the letters in the verses will simply cross reference them with other
scriptures or TG.
The first HEB footnote in Genesis 1:1, letter c for the word created. It
also means shaped, fashioned, created; always divine activity; organized,
formed. What a wealth of knowledge we get when we add the footnotes to our
studies.
Another footnote on that same page is in verse 6, letter a. The HEB word
for firmament is expanse.
The first blue highlight I found was Genesis 6:18a. I know immediately by
looking at it that the Prophet Joseph had other insights to this particular
passage.
