I have a bucket of gum that I hand out to all of those who are singing the opening hymn.  This is done at random intervals so they never know when it might come out.  I am also pretty understanding of students who are at the mercy of siblings who won't get out of bed, or carpools that are 10 minutes late, etc.  However, if they are curling their hair in the bathroom--no mercy!
