I just mention 911 very briefly.  I like to remind the students .....'if ye 
are prepared, ye shall not fear'
and then I read some excerpts from Pres. Hinckley's conference talk right 
after 911 and apply it to the standard work we are studying at the time. 
Especially the part when he says,  "Our safety lies in repentance. Our 
strength comes of obedience to the commandments of God.",  because this 
applies so profoundly to the Children of Israel then and now.  I focus on 
the message of personal preparedness and safety.  (I don't highlight the 
parts about war and national defence).   There is a quote from Pres. Benson 
in the 4th lesson, I believe,  he says,  "The great test of life is 
obedience to God".   I've made a poster of that for my seminary room.
