We have a Seminary auction. The kids have a point sheet that they keep track
of themselves and add up at the end of each month. I kept track of it last
year & it was way to much work for me. They can earn points for attendance
(there is a bonus for the days that the entire class is on time with their
scriptures open), singing loud enough that I can hear them during our
opening song, leading the opening song, teaching a class, leading the
devotional, reading their scriptures ( there is a bonus if they read all 7
days in a week), checking off on a SM and whatever else I think they can
make points on/be motivated with. I have our list in a word file if anyone
wants me to email it.
I don't have to say anything about anyone being late any more. My cell phone
is set to go off at 6:45am which is when we start our class. They judge if
everyone was in place and ready for class.
We have 2 counties in our ward and the sheet is the same for both groups so
that all our kids participate in the same auction.
Each family gave an item to be auctioned and they varied from a bag of
Starbursts (which was the favorite by the way) to T shirts to hand warmers
for hunters to homemade cookies to a scripture case. We put it in the ward
bulletin and lots of people donated stuff. Our basketball coach was our
auctioneer and everyone had fun.
I don't know about you guys but life goes so much better for me when we are
having Seminary.
