At $50 a year and us being asked not to use anything not CES approved I suggest that you get some paper and colored pencils and your scriptures. Let the youth read and make their oen tabernacle. Have some fun.
 
What I have done in previous years is to set the room up to look like the tabernacle. So they actually get to walk around it--doesn't take much space.
