[Teachldsseminary] OT -- Paul Allen Story

Does anybody know of or have any references for teaching about the many wives of Abraham and Jacob? I just came from class and spent most of my time explaining why Jacob had four wives, why Rachel and Leah's handmaidens became Jacob's wives, etc. I looked in my small personal library for an answer because I knew there would be questions, but could find nothing that I felt was satisfactory. I've used the answer "That's just the way it was done in those days" a few too many times and I'm just about ready to tell my parents that they need to explain this to their kids so I can teach the lesson. Please help me!! I'm not ready to teach a sex ed class yet.

  The teacher in my dh's priesthood quorum meeting today quoted the "Paul  
  Allen" story.  My dh asked me about it, knowing that we had discussed it  over a 
  year ago. I remember a discussion going on on this board concerning  that 
  story. Does anyone have a link/information indicating that this story  isn't true 
  and shouldn't be circulated?  I've already tried the Mormon  Hoax's site and 
  there is no information there.
