Don't underestimate this age group. They are very ready to find truths in the
scriptures and apply them in their lives. Below is a form I used in a past
Seminary lesson. I think #'s 1, 2 and 4 would be perfect for your purpose and
could be done within your time frame. Many of this age are ready to begin to
actually use the scriptures to guide their lives-- lead them in learning how to
do that.
Here's an easy form I used as part of a Seminary class one day:
1. Read the following block of scriptures _________________________
(underline phrases or words that you especially like while you read)
2. Look up some foot notes and make note of any you especially like:
3. Check your student manual to see if it contains any information on your
scripture block (vocabulary words, quotes or insights from leaders etc.)
4. Look for the important principles in the scripture block (re-read it if
you need to) Remember a principle is “a doctrinally based guideline of what we
ought to do.” It should be something that can be applied to a variety of
circumstances.
Principle:
5. Ponder and be ready to present how you believe this principle can be
applied in your own life.
