This definition was not my wording but it is from a few years ago when I
taught before and someone suggested it. I used it and it went well. I had
already talked about a covenant came from the root to cut (cut a deal as an
example phrase still used).

ASK: What was circumcision?
The word Circumcision comes from Latin which means to cut around.
Circumcision is the cutting and bleeding on that part of the male anatomy
which is used for pro-creation. Circumcision was the token or sign of
cutting the covenant God made with Abraham. Circumcision symbolized
cleanliness before god and was also a symbolic reminder of the promises the
Lord made to Abraham regarding his posterity.

In our day Baptism has replaced circumcision.
Baptism			=			Circumcision
@ 8 years = @ 8 days
take the name of Christ = Received a name
Covenant to keep the commandments/
repent/remove sin from our lives, = Remove the fore-skin
(remember they did not have very sanitary conditions, they understood very
well how this kept them clean from contamination)
We witness = this is a token (or a witness)

Anybody have any suggestions or ideas on how they are going to present info
about circumsision?

I wasn't thinking I would mention it until today when we were discussing the
evils of Sodom and one of my students asked what fornication meant.........

This question may come up tomorrow!
