I teach home study seminary once a week for 50 minutes and it has been like
pulling teeth this year for class participation. After discussing this with
my mom (a veteran seminary teacher) she suggested we needed to play a
game...since we meet for so short a time I didn't want to "waste" a day with
just a game, so I turned the lesson on Covenant Marriage from Gen. 24-28
into a game.

Here's the brief explanation...

I read through and found where the players (Jacob, Esau, Rebekah, Isaac,
servant of Abraham, etc) made either good or bad decisions in regards to
Covenant Marriage.

I then found a generic game board online, made cards out of the scriptures I
found, for example - Genesis 28:2 - would be on the card. My master sheet
(I made this up for me) states "Make the right choice of a potential spouse"
so I can remember what the scripture is about to jog my memory and the
direction the board they can move is "Forward"
Or Genesis 28:8-9	- on the card "Married outside the covenant" on
mast list and "Backward" is direction.

The game board is hanging on the chalkboard. The markers were David's Star
in different colors just printed out and taped to a magnet.

The scripture cards are in one pile - upside-down - on the table. There is
a pile of "Go Forward" cards and "Go Backward" cards on either side of the
scripture cards. I just had the teams choose a number btw 1 & 20 to start.
Then I flipped over the first scripture card and read the reference out loud
(these are in random order). The students had to find the reference and
the first team to find it, read it, and explains whether it is moving toward
or away from a covenant marriage. If it was positive they chose a "Go
Forward" card and on the back I wrote random numbers to move forward. If it
was negative they chose a "Go Backward" card. The team to correctly get the
negative and pick a "Go Backward" card gets to pick which team's marker to
move back. I think they had fun, they were in their scriptures and learned
about covenant marriage - at least I hope this is what they got out of it...

I hope this makes sense. It was fun to create and fun to play. I would
happy to forward my materials on...

Thanx,
