[Teachldsseminary] CROSSWORD game

An easier way to play a crossword puzzle game as a group is to lay out the
"grid" on your wall using individual sticky note papers for each square.
One letter of each word gets written on a sticky note. This takes some time
to lay out--but you would spend that time laying out a grid on a poster
board anyways. You can put the numbers (like "1" for across or down) up in
the corner of the sticky notes where they belong. This way if a student
makes a mistake and starts writing the wrong answer, the grid isn't ruined.
You just take down those stickies and put up new ones in their place. This
can make a big grid if you have lots of long answers, so start sticking high
up on your wall, and place them close together.
By the way, for the Conference Jeopardy game (or any version of Jeopardy)
I use a poster with the Categories written in a line going across the top.
Then I have "100" "200" etc each written on a sticky note going down in a
column below each topic. That way when a student gets one right, I just
hand him or her that sticky and they keep a pile going at their seat. At
the end we add up the points from their pile, and we know who wins. You
can even have the kids help write the numbers 100-500 on a stack of stickies
to help you get set up. Hope this helps. Nora
