[Teachldsseminary] Introducing Scripture Mastery

There are lots of ways to introduce SM. I do one a day for the first 25 days. We look it up, talk about it briefly and make sure they mark the scripture and put a key word at the top of the page. After i have introduced all of the SM I focus on one a week. We work on memorizing it as a class. We play a game to see which group can put the SM verse together (I have all of the words on small strips and they have to put it in the correct order) I do first letter on one day. I write the SM verse out on the board and have them read it outload as a class. Then I have a volunteer erase three words and then we say it outloud again as a class. We will do this 5 times. By the end they know it quite well. make sure they say the verse with it too. Just some very quick ideas. Off to pick up the little one at kindergarden. Bye!

  Question for the group:
This is the first year that I have taught Seminary & I never went to
seminary as a youth. It is gradually all coming together I think. But,
I am curious about introducing SM. It makes sense that you want to have
them be familiar with all of them to be able to do the games. Do you
introduce a new SM every week/ more often? When? How? What? Who?
Okay, maybe not who. I'd appreciate it you walk me through it as though
I have never been in a seminary class. Do they have to memorize them
right then? Do you give them all year to pass them off? When do you
have them pass them off. Oh, I have a class of 16 students, all grades.
