[Teachldsseminary] Introducing Scripture Mastery

HI, I do SM several ways. At the beginning of the year I have them sign up
to a devotionals about the SM. The devotional includes an object that will
stay with the class for the year.(we will play games with the objects
later), Also part of the devotional is a quote from a general authority
using that SM. The students recognize that scripture(s) and take ownership
of it.

- I also have one scripture focused each week. We sing a song that has the
SM words in it. We sing it each day, and by the end of the week I am singing
it as I wake up each morning so I am sure they too sing it. In fact they
say they find themselves singing it a school.

-We also play a game that will also focus on that SM of the week.

- I also start the year off by getting them to know all the keywords for all
the SM. We play SM bingo,or just regular search. They are instructed to
mark them and circle any words that are important.

- I also play various SM games at least 3 times a week, for about 5 minutes.

- basically I have only 25 -30 minutes left for lesson. But the way I
figure it, they will likely remember most if not all of the SM but they are
definitely not going to remember all of your lessons.

I hope that is of help

Question for the group:

This is the first year that I have taught Seminary & I never went to

seminary as a youth. It is gradually all coming together I think. But,

I am curious about introducing SM. It makes sense that you want to have

them be familiar with all of them to be able to do the games. Do you

introduce a new SM every week/ more often? When? How? What? Who?

Okay, maybe not who. I'd appreciate it you walk me through it as though

I have never been in a seminary class. Do they have to memorize them

right then? Do you give them all year to pass them off? When do you

have them pass them off. Oh, I have a class of 16 students, all grades.
