[Teachldsseminary] Game--Chariot Races

We use beach towels instead of cardboard and jump ropes. But the handles of the jump ropes came off, so the students just wrapped them around their hands a couple times. Gloves would have helped. (I have gloves for the next time.)
We also used 2 horses for every driver. I would give the drivers the key words for a SM and they would take off. When the drivers got to the other end of the gym, they opened their scriptures, looked it up, and began reading that SM. When I was satisfied that they had the right scripture, I allowed them to come back to the "stable." I also allowed the drivers to repeat it if they knew it without having them to look it up. (Since we memorize the SM, this is one way to encourage that memorization. It helps games go faster and they earn extra Seminary bucks for knowing that scripture.)
I kept track of the number of SM each team "won," and each team member was then paid for the number of total wins. They will do most anything for $$$!!!
I hope this helps.

Could someone who has used the Chariot Race game for scripture mastery
please clarify some things for me?
I have been trying to use a piece of cardboard for the chariot, but it
doesn't slide very well on the gym floor at the church. Is there something else
that works better?
Does the rope hurt the students hands when they hold it? Is there some
trick to using a certain kind of rope?
How do you keep track of whether or not the team found the correct scripture
and how many scriptures they have found.
I want to play this game tomorrow, but the practice runs have not been very
promising....
Thanks for your help!
