[Teachldsseminary] Game--Chariot Races

Karen (and anyone else interested)

My student love playing the Chariot Race game. We just raced out of Egypt
last week! Our gym floor is carpeted, so the cardboard does slide very
well. If your gym is not carpeted, a scrap of rug/carpet under the
cardboard might slide better (or if the scrap of carpet/rug is big enough,
use it instead of cardboard, carpet side down, of course). And yes, the
rope does hurt. The first time we played it the kids told me the former
Seminary teacher brought gloves, so I brought gloves the next time. Some
opted to use them, but most didn't.

The way we play it is that I put a set of cards with clues on them at one
end of the gym in a box, and the scripture reference on cards at the other
end of the gym (one set for each team). The chariot rider picks a clue, the
"horses" pull them to the other side of the gym where they have to find the
card that has the reference on it and then bring both cards together back to
the beginning end of the gym. This way we can just count pairs of cards. I
couldn't figure out how to check it if they actually looked it up and marked
the page, although that definitely would demonstrate better knowledge of the
scripture reference.

I hope this helps...

Subject: [Teachldsseminary] Game--Chariot Races

Could someone who has used the Chariot Race game for scripture mastery
please clarify some things for me?

I have been trying to use a piece of cardboard for the chariot, but it
doesn't slide very well on the gym floor at the church. Is there something
else
that works better?

Does the rope hurt the students hands when they hold it? Is there some
trick to using a certain kind of rope?

How do you keep track of whether or not the team found the correct
scripture
and how many scriptures they have found.

I want to play this game tomorrow, but the practice runs have not been very

promising....

Thanks for your help!
