I suggest you download again. To try and replicate the problem you describe,
I downloaded the .zip file and extracted the PDFs to a location on my hard
drive; they open in my reader just fine.

I also recommend you update to the very latest Adobe Reader. These files
were created with an older version, but the latest reader gives you the best
chance to view ALL PDF files, regardless of the version.
