I would love to have a copy of your cards for the game. Thanks for sharing. My kids did an auction before winter break and wanted to do one again but I didn't want to do the exact same thing and wanted to work it into a more meaningful experience. This is just what I was looking for!

No, each of the second set of envelopes contained five cards (business card
size) - each card with instructions for a small task or quiz. Once they
completed all five cards, they could choose a prize. The kids each received
two prizes that day. The first prize they chose in order according to how
many points they had earned. ie: Shawney chose first (any prize she
wanted) with 13,000 points; Steve chose next (any prize he wanted from
those that were left) with 10,000 points, etc etc. on down the line. It was
just way less complicated than assigning point values to the prizes. After
they had each chosen a prize, then we had the Survivor Challenge for the
next prize - and that was first to finish got to grab a prize. The fun part
was sitting back and watching them scramble to get their cards completed,
stopping to help someone else complete his, and laughing at what the others
were doing.
Helpful hint: put a time limit on the scripture scramble - so that even if
some haven't put it together yet, they must leave it and move on to the
tasks. (I used a long scripture - D&C 1:37-38)
I have 20 students. For a smaller class you may want to add an extra card
or two to the envelopes; or make the tasks a bit more time consuming,
depending on how much time you want to spend. With my 20 students it took
about 10 to 15 minutes. There are lots of possibilities here.
I have my cards saved on the comp. if anyone wants copies. Some of the
cards contain pictures.
