My students were quiet about it yesterday, so I decided to wait and see what
reactions, if any, they had this morning. They had quite a few! I have 23
ninth graders and we discussed what they heard, felt, and answered any
questions they had for the first few minutes, then moved on to President Brigham
Young.

Several students remarked that they didn't like the feelings they had when
the apostates were telling "all." Some said it was like waiting for
lightening to strike; dark and uncomfortable; like their oxygen was being taken away.
Before I could explain why they felt that way, one student said, "That's
what Satan feels like when you've lost the spirit and your light is out." These
apostates have left the church, but they can't leave the church alone. They
said those people didn't look happy, and they didn't sound happy either.

It was great to hear them contrast what we've been studying in the
scriptures on exaltation, repentance and that there is a way back, knowledge and the
proper use of it. Many scripture masteries were repeated to family members.
Even had one Mom go look it up to be sure her son was correct. They were
telling me what they had learned and that that was not what was presented.

My immediate reaction on Monday night after the first few minutes came from
JSH 1:15-20, "they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are from
me.......but deny the power thereof."

They said they got the correct message loud and clear everytime they used
the word "secret" in reference to the temple, that it's really "sacred." They
liked the clearness of the Apostles statements.

Have a great rest of the week! We've crossed the plains and are getting
things going in the Salt Lake Valley.
