My first contribution.hope it's helpful!
We had our lesson on the Family Proclamation today and we focused on the
divine, but different God-given roles of men and women. I had the boys sit
on one side of the room and the girls on the other. They each had a small
(half page to fit in scriptures if they want to keep it) copy of the
Proclamation and a stack of small blue or pink squares of paper (girls-pink,
boys-blue). Each boy was instructed to write the name of each girl in the
room on one piece of paper, then write a quality he sees in that girl that
he hopes to find in his future mate. The Girls were to do the same for the
boys. The compliments were given anonymously. We piled them up and a few
students helped me sort (incidentally, ALL the girls raised their hands to
volunteer to sort). Each person was given their pile and allowed time to
read them. Then we discussed some of the qualities, and how we are designed
with qualities tailored to our specific responsibilities in this life. They
each were then given a glue stick to attach the compliments to the back of
their proclamation in hopes that they would keep it.
They all left with smiles on their faces. Even the ones who never
participate wrote compliments and were excited to read the ones they were
given. I think it made their day to know that others (especially peers of
the opposite sex) see valuable eternal qualities in them.
