One idea for a shofar is to contact your local Jewish Center.  We have a
Jewish "Institute on our Ohio State University campus. I contacted them, and
they not only helped me understand some questions I had about the Jewish
faith, but they also told me how to make a shofar, and sold me a few goats'
horns for $10. Apparently, they often have their Jewish youth make shofars
during camp, and other times. . .
It was fun, and easy to do. I made one at home; the other I kept at
seminary, and in the morning, while waiting for class to begin, some of the
students would take a turn at sawing off the tip. If you do it by hand, it
takes a while. At home, I used a power saw and it went really fast.
