[Teachldsseminary] SM Help Needed (D&C 84)

Just something to think about as you continue on with your SM.  At the
beginning of the year our CES supervisor for EMS  told us that too much
emphasis was being placed on the SM memorization.  The kids were just
memorizing the words and that was all.  He said it is not getting the thing
down word for word that is important but understanding the principal being
taught.

Our supervisor passed off the kids if they could find and apply all the
scriptures and knew the doctrines, within one hour.  So they were given a
written test, had to find in their scriptures each one and apply it - and do
it in less than an hour.

The mastery came from being able to locate the doctrines within the covers
of their scriptures, not in the word for word.  Being able to teach the
scripture requires finding it - and knowing the doctrine.
