[Teachldsseminary] Survey:Priesthood Authority cards

None of my students have their line of authority either, including my own
son. In fact, my husband was never given his line of authority (hence my
son's do not have theirs). His father has been deceased since shortly after
we got married and his mother has been deceased for many years. We have
searched all of his "stuff" and cannot find it with any of the other things
like that (book of remembrance, etc.). I asked my father about this, and he
said that it was never 'policy' to do this, it was just something that some
people did.

The Church now has a way to get these that you could pass on to the boys in
your class.

Contact Member and Statistical Records at:
Email: lineofauthority at ldschurch.org, or
Toll free: 800-453-3860. Then press 2 followed by the extension 3500. Then
choose option 6, then option 2, or
Local Salt Lake City: 801-240-3500, option 6 then option 2

Because of privacy concerns and in order to locate your records you will be
asked to verify some of your personal information. Some of the information
you may need to have available is:

Full name of the priesthood holder
Date of birth
Current ward and stake
Current priesthood office held
Address and ZIP Code
Who performed the ordination

They will fax or mail the request to you. I e-mailed them the information
last week and received an e-mail the same day that it was ready and being
put in the mail the following day. I am hoping it will arrive in the next
day or two.

Subject: [Teachldsseminary] Survey:Priesthood Authority cards

We have been discussing priesthood authority the past couple of days and
today I asked the young men in my class if they had their priesthood line of
authority cards. None of the 9 YM did! I thought when you received the
priesthood, you received the a card from whomever conferred the priesthood
upon you. My boys said "they don't do that anymore." All my boys are from
one ward, is it just their ward, or is this not practiced anymore?
