[Teachldsseminary] D&C 76 - Kingdom Hopping

Very interesting. Now (if true) that the church does not have an official
doctrine on this matter, I must ask: Why not? The scriptures are clear,
the teachings are clear (multiple times over), at least to me, that no, a
celestial body is not a terrestrial body, and they don't transform over
time.
Has anyone tried to verify whether or not there is an official doctrine on
this question? The only reason I can think of why there would NOT be, is
perhaps because over the decades of the church's existence, there may have
been statements made by reputable leaders that could have indicated or have
been interpreted to the contrary, and therefore the church does not make an
official doctrine (IF indeed that is the case), in order not to contradict
otherwise noted and respected teachers/leaders of the church.
For my own understanding, I'd like to know if the church does indeed
"officially" fence sit on this doctrine. Anyone who knows for sure (or who
makes inquiry), please chime in.

I have a glue in for 76:112 - The source is Joseph Fielding Smith,
Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 2, pp. 31-32. This book was written in 1955
so he was not the Prophet at that time. The source for the statement is
the Church News, April 22, 1939. So this is offered in the "for what its
worth" department.
"It has been asked if it is possible for one who inherits the Telestial
glory to advance in time to the Celestial glory? The answer to this
question is, No! The scriptures are clear to this point. Speaking of
those who go to the Telestial kingdom, the revelation says: 'And they shall
be servants of the Most High; but where God and Christ dwell they cannot
come, worlds without end.'
"The Celestial, Terrestrial and Telestial glories, I have heard
compared to the wheels on a train. The second and the third may, and will
reach the place where the first was, but the first will have moved on and
will still be just the same distance in advance of them. ...This means
they become gods, have exaltation, gain the fullness of the Father, and
receive a continuation
of the 'seeds forever'. ...This illustration is not true! The wheels do
not run on the same track, and do not go in the same direction. The
Terrestrial and Telestial are limited in their powers of advancement,
worlds without end."
