>>>>Daniel Ludlow in a speech given recently on BYU TV spoke on this very
topic. In summary he said that to teach that there would be any kind of
kingdom hopping would imply that the lower kingdoms are actually stepping
stones and would negate the purpose of repentance in this life. Also would
mean that the "final judgement" is not actually "final" at all.Terry

Hi Terry,
Thanks for your insights. I would have to agree with Brother Ludlow's
assessment. And, otherwise, there is no "probation" or testing either, it
is just a race to see who can get ahead in this life, if everyone basically
gets the same reward by "kingdom hopping", eventually receiving all the
Father hath, no matter what their probationary estate wrought. There are so
many scriptures and writings of the modern prophets (McConkie for one) that
teach this doctrine of final judgement, I'm surprised there could be any
question or a lack of an "official doctrine" about the matter! What do the
scriptures say? This is the day of your salvation... everlastingly too
late... doth seal you his... the spirit that goes out of your body shall
have power to possess it... the goats and the sheep... raise to joy or
damnation... the parable of the talents... weeping and gnashing of teeth.
If there is no accountability, there is no judgement, and no reward or
punishment.

2 Ne. 2: 13
13 And if ye shall say there is no law, ye shall also say there is no sin.
If ye shall say there is no sin, ye shall also say there is no
righteousness. And if there be no righteousness there be no happiness. And
if there be no righteousness nor happiness there be no punishment nor
misery. And if these things are not there is no God. And if there is no God
we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no creation of
things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all things must have
vanished away.

D&C 76: 112
112 And they shall be servants of the Most High; but where God and Christ
dwell they cannot come, worlds without end.

Alma 42: 13, 22, 25
13 Therefore, according to justice, the plan of redemption could not be
brought about, only on conditions of repentance of men in this probationary
state, yea, this preparatory state; for except it were for these conditions,
mercy could not take effect except it should destroy the work of justice.
Now the work of justice could not be destroyed; if so, God would cease to be
God.

22 But there is a law given, and a punishment affixed, and a repentance
granted; which repentance, mercy claimeth; otherwise, justice claimeth the
creature and executeth the law, and the law inflicteth the punishment; if
not so, the works of justice would be destroyed, and God would cease to be
God.

  25 What, do ye suppose that mercy can rob justice? I say unto you, Nay;
not one whit. If so, God would cease to be God.

Alma 36
28 And I know that he will raise me up at the last day, to dwell with him
in glory;
30 But behold, my son, this is not all; for ye ought to know as I do know,
that inasmuch as ye shall keep the commandments of God ye shall prosper in
the land; and ye ought to know also, that inasmuch as ye will not keep the
commandments of God ye shall be cut off from his presence. Now this is
according to his word.

Hel. 13: 38
38 But behold, your days of probation are past; ye have procrastinated the
day of your salvation until it is everlastingly too late, and your
destruction is made sure; yea, for ye have sought all the days of your lives
for that which ye could not obtain; and ye have sought for happiness in
doing iniquity, which thing is contrary to the nature of that righteousness
which is in our great and Eternal Head.

Alma 5: 41
41 Therefore, if a man bringeth forth good works he hearkeneth unto the
voice of the good shepherd, and he doth follow him; but whosoever bringeth
forth evil works, the same becometh a child of the devil, for he hearkeneth
unto his voice, and doth follow him.

D&C 63:48
48 He that sendeth up treasures unto the land of Zion shall receive an
inheritance in this world, and his works shall follow him, and also a reward
in the world to come.

D&C 3: 4
4 For although a man may have many revelations, and have power to do many
mighty works, yet if he boasts in his own strength, and sets at naught the
counsels of God, and follows after the dictates of his own will and carnal
desires, he must fall and incur the vengeance of a just God upon him.

D&C 59: 2
2 For those that live shall inherit the earth, and those that die shall
rest from all their labors, and their works shall follow them; and they
shall receive a crown in the mansions of my Father, which I have prepared
for them.

Do the scriptures mean what they say they mean? I would say they do, and we
approach them lightly at our own peril. Can one change the body they
receive in the resurrection? I think not.

D&C 76: 78 Wherefore, they are bodies terrestrial, and not bodies
celestial, and differ in glory as the moon differs from the sun.
