I have struggled with ways to incorporate the Teaching Emphasis in my class. It feel that I am rather hit and miss with it. As I pondered how to include the TE with D&C 84, I came up with two days that I have felt were successful.

Yesterday the students and I simply read the first 32 verses and discussed points along the way. There was a lot of discussion as we talked about the location of the New Jerusalem, line of authority, the eternal nation of the priesthood, about how the priesthood is the power of godliness that helps man to prepare to see the face of God, the ministering of angels, and Priesthood ordinances. I was so pleased with our discussion.

For today I wrote 4 topics on index cards and asked my 4 students to prepare a 2 1/2 minute talk (remember those from Primary days?) on their topic. I asked them to use the information in their Student Study Guide to Explain, Share and Testify as they gave their talk. The topics were: Magnifying Callings, the oath and covenant of the priesthood, Light versus Dark, and The Book of Mormon and the Condemnation. The kids were really into their scriptures, they gave great talks and I didn't do all the talking. It went really well!!

I hope that this helps someone.
