Thank you, thank you, thank you to you, LaRie, and those others who
responded to me privately. I appreciate so much your responding to my need
for help. I especially was glad for the vote of confidence that this indeed
will be a good activity for the students. Perhaps others out there will
benefit from this help to my inquiry!

I used this idea today and the kids loved it and everyone participated. I
couldn't find the instructions for High Roller either, so I found some other
info that worked. I divided the class into teams of three students each,
and gave each of them a notepad and marker. I only had two dice, so they
had to come up to the front to roll for points. I randomly drew out a
question, read it to the class, and then they had 30 seconds to write down
their answer. Each team that had the correct answer got to roll one die to
see how many points they received. Because the section is so large and
contains so much information, I found that 30 seconds was not enough time.
So I told them the page number before I read the question, and then 30
seconds was enough time. There was not enough time to finish the questions,
so we are doing that tomorrow. For a change of pace, the last ten minutes
each team that got the answer correct would roll two dice to see what score
they received. If they got doubles, it was an automatic 20 points. Since
we are finishing tomorrow, I told them that every team member that reads the
entire section tonight will receive 10 points for their team. Hope this
helps.
