[Teachldsseminary] OT -- Inspiration

Interesting experience. I had a similar one years ago when I was YW Pres. I
turned in two different names for a secretary; both times the bishopric
prayed about these names and also felt they were right, yet when the sister
was invited to accept the calling, both turned it down, for various reasons.
It shook me very deeply, because I was new in the ward, and didn't know
anyone, so I relied heavily on prayer, fasting and inspiration, to no avail.
My bishop explained that I needed the experience of relying on the Lord,
that my feelings were not wrong, and that these sisters needed the
opportunity to accept or reject the calls. On my third try, I did receive a
secretary who was absolutely fabulous!

Maybe this sister is receiving inspiration that is meant more for her. As
she reads through the hymns, certain gospel principles might speak to her
that help her testimony and understanding to grow. It does not necessarily
mean that the hymn is the best for the congregation at a particular time.

Another thought - are the choice of hymns so bad that they have to be
changed? Just maybe there is one in the congregation who needs to sing or
hear the message of a particular hymn?
Has his sister been given a list of the topics for the upcoming sacrament
meeting ahead of time? Does she know how to use the back of the hymn book by
looking under various topics to find appropriate hymns?

I know that this will be a wonderful learning experience for both your
husband and this sweet sister in the end-
Best wishes
