I don't know if anyone else was aware of the significance of the colors  
embroidered on the temple-in-the-wilderness veils?  A seminary director in  our 
area pointed out that the colors; scarlet, blue and purple are  significant.
 
Scarlet=blood/mortality
Blue=heaven/immortality
Purple=royalty/atonement
 
When we mix the colors; red + blue = purple
When we put mortal + immortal = Christ or His saving  atonement
 
All things point to the Savior...
I'm sure there are more applications that can be perceived from this,  but 
this is a great jumping point for thinking through how symbols work.   My 
students really got the "light bulb" on this one!
