[Teachldsseminary] QUES: Looking for healthy or non-food SeminaryIncentive ideas

This is something I use for the Spring blahs, I guess you'd call it. I have a jar that I fill with marbles that the students earn. Each day they are on time they can put a marble in the jar. If they recite a SM from memory or memorize a new one they can have a marble. If they do devotional on the day they signed up for, or help clean up the room when we're done, or have a missionary moment that they share, or share how they applied a principle to their lives, they get a marble. When the jar is full they then can vote on which SM game they would like to play and we have a "time out" day where they just play SM games and have treats. It is just such a hard time of year when they are coming up on spring break and haveing a hard time focusing. They have seemed to like this earning incenitve pretty well.

I do warn them if they cannot quit talking in class or there are other disruptions that they can't work out they will loose some of the marbles and have to work longer to fill up the jar. (That was with one class that there was particular problems between students.)

One of the best rewards for my class is gum. Every teenager loves gum and
you can get sugar-free. Also, neat pens have worked well and once I got
several $1.00 coupons from Dairy Queen and rolled them into an empty
ice-cream cone (which they gave me for free). The kids loved it!

SeminaryIncentive ideas

Kim just sent a message about Seminary incentives which reminded me that I
have wanted to ask about ideas for incentives. She has a good system, but
didn't mention specific rewards.

I have been giving a small candy bar for each SM memorized, a regular size
for every 5 SMs memorized, and a huge candy bar when they pass off all 25
SMs. My daughter has asked for healthier food choices, so I plan to add
granola bars and juice boxes to the mix. Does anyone have suggestions for
other healthy/inexpensive/non-food incentives? I have even considered no
rewards, so I am interested to hear from those of you who many not offer
anything to your students for rewards.

Thank you in advance.
