[Teachldsseminary] Using picture off internet

Technically -- no it is not the same as holding up the actual
Ensign. If the image in the Ensign still holds its copyright, putting it in
PowerPoint is illegal. [Even saving it on your computer is illegal.]
But remember my comments were general, not specific to any single
picture. I have not looked at the specific picture mentioned in the earlier
emails. The Ensign does have the following statement:
"Text and visual material in the Ensign may be copied for
incidental, noncommercial church or home use. Visual material may not be
copied if restrictions are indicated in the credit line with the
artwork...." [thanks, Sidney in Montana for pointing that out]. So for any
specific picture, you need to find the credit lines in the Ensign and see
what (if any) restrictions apply to that specific picture.
Hope that helps!
Dave

I have a follow up question on your message. Is it permissible to use a
picture in a presentation (say a powerpoint) that we downloaded from the
Ensign pdf format posted on the internet? Is it the same as holding up the
actual Ensign or no?
