I know I was supposed to change the header to something more descriptive of
the intent of my email--but I thought it more likely to be recognized by this
header.
I would like to thank the person who shared these thoughts. I have often
felt the same way but I was too timid to express my views. I KNOW Tim puts in
long hours to keep this list going. I KNOW some of you feel it is worth
every penny. I KNOW I have the right to choose whether on not I pay the
membership fee. My sorrow comes from the fact that I have been on this list for a
long time and I remember the days that teachers shared their ideas with each
other for free. Often when I was stumped on how to make a lesson more exciting
I would check the list and find two or three ideas for creative ways to
teach a concept. It was wonderful. Someone wrote in that most of the ideas that
are in the filing cabinet were first sent to the free list. I don't know
how that can be true because now as I read the entries on the free list it is
mostly just teachers encouraging each other or telling where to locate a
picture or some other item. It isn't ideas about how to teach a particular
lesson--at least not very often. Obviously, I still have some need that is filled
by the list--even without the great ideas--because I still read the emails
faithfully every day.......but I miss the old days! This morning I taught a
lesson that absolutely did not go over with my class. I pondered it, I prayed
about it, I sought the spirit--it was just a rough day. I sure would have
enjoyed finding a little tidbit on this site that might have helped.
Thanks for letting me "get this off my chest". By the way, this is my 12th
year of teaching. Even those of us who have been around awhile have bad days!
