You visually make the sign.  I have found that the more exaggerated I make 
the movements and the more enthusiastic I am, the more the kids enjoy it.

Most of the signs are based on American Sign Language signs.  If the signs 
don't make sense to you, you might want to visit this website 
http://commtechlab.msu.edu/SITES/ASLWEB/browser.htm which is an ASL 
dictionary.  You can click on a word and a window will open up with a video 
clip of the sign.  You can always change the motions to ones that make sense 
to you.
