Marji,
As difficult as this sounds... and my heart truly goes out to you, I
think the greater lesson your children can learn is that of support
for their current teacher and those who have appointed her whatever
the circumstances may be? It sounds as though when they are able to
be in class they are having a positive experience? So that being the
case maybe the students could go out of their way to let their
teacher know just how much she is missed when she is not there. It
just might be that there is a situation that is not being made aware
to all at this point? There will be many of these throughout the
lives of our children in the church and learning to support decisions
made when we just do not see the wisdom in a seeming disaster can
make us crazy. I have been there! But trust me... all things DO
work for our good even when at the time they often time do not. Sooo
it is critical with the days ahead that our youth learn this one
important lesson and that is that we support and sustain the brethren
and they do not hear us murmur even when we doubt, but that we all
exercise our faith in behalf of those struggling in new assignments.
Again I am sorry that your sweet youth are in the middle of this
situation and hope that maybe they can be a strength to a struggling
leader. What a blessing they could be! Also never forget that you
always have the choice as a parent to communicate to a teacher or
leader as to what you feel will work as far as schedule and workload
with your child. Even with seminary. Saturday seminary or doubling
the time is something I have never seen as an option in the
handbook??? This may in itself necessitate someone else being
appointed. Also you may consider home-study for your own children if
you would like consistency in the program? But best of luck to you
and again my heart goes out to you.
Kathryn
