This probably isn't an answer, but something I wanted to share.
I also have 2 EM students. Monday was our first day back after a 2 wk.
break. Monday, my 2 students were there, one with a little attitude,
but she pulled out of it by the end of class. lol
Tues and today, I had ONE students. She will never know how much I
appreciate her coming. I know it gets a little lonely with being the
only one at times.....doing the reading with me, searching different
scriptures, answering the questions, etc. Today I taught 39-41. An
article in the filing cabinet said they taught section 41, about obeying
laws and how the Lord delights in this, by having them color a page and
in the end getting to the point where they liked their coloring because
they stayed within the lines. As I got ready to get into section 41, I
gave her a sheet that I had done 3 clip arts things on. They were of a
handcart, wagon and pioneers. I told her that I was going to give her a
coloring sheet while I taught this part of the D & C. She said......Oh
YEAH! She colored and listened and answered every question I asked
her. In the end, the connection was made about staying in the lines and
how important it is that we stay "in the lines". We compared her
getting out of the lines a little, but how she "recovered".
Anyway, with all of this said, my point was.........rather than her
sitting there and having to have a one on one lesson with me (how boring
would that be! lol), she loved the coloring and STILL listened. I
thought maybe this might be something you could try. It might would
give him something to do so that he doesn't nod off during class. He's
keeping busy, staying awake, coloring something to do with the lesson,
still listening and answering.
Just a thought. It sure worked for me today. I'm thinking I might do
some clip art and have it available for them when they look like they
are having a "sweet dreams" moment. ;-)
