Hello colleagues,
This is my second year teaching EMS and I love this opportunity I have to
teach the youth of my branch. I have only two students. Their parents are
members, they (the students) know the scriptures and are very bright kids.
Both are very polite, and respectful; they have excellent attendance and
rarely are late. But, I have one problem: one of them (the boy, a senior
this year. They are brother and sister) gets on his seat and SLEEPS. If I
tell him to read, he does. If I ask him something, he asks me to repeat the
question and answers it. But, this past two days he is being very
irritable, he is still polite but his answers quietly tell me "Don't ask too
much, I am not in the mood"(At least this is what I perceive).
According to the Branch president he is under a lot of pressure. That
pressure really comes from his parents. They want him to get his Eagle
Scout, take college classes, be in sports, and the list goes on and on.
This boy really procrastinates. He gets things done but only at the last
minute and with a lot of pushing. He is in the class but, what grade do I
give him? Can he receive credit for just being there? I don't know what to
do. Any ideas?
Thanks so much for your help.
