[Teachldsseminary] QUESTION

I wore my sons big, huge, size 16 snow boots to class and didn't say
anything right away. As I went about preparing and doing things at the
beginning of class, they could see how hard it was to walk around in the
big shoes. When they mentioned why was I wearing those big funny boots,
I told them that I felt sometimes from what was said that I needed to
fill Sister X's shoes that used to teach. We also happened to have the
Seminary teacher that had been there for so long reassigned and a new
one come in, so the lesson was good for that, too. I told them this
from Richard L. Porter
"In leadership changes, we never really have to "fill the shoes" of the
person we replace. They take their shoes with them.
Rather Heavenly Father gives us our own pair of shoes to wear, which He
know fit us perfectly, or He would have not asked us to wear them.
(I took off the boots and put my own shoes on.)
Our only real concern is that at the end of each day we can say to the
Lord that we are standing in those shoes exactly where He asked us to
stand and that the toes of our shoes are pointed in the right direction
for His errands for us tomorrow."
It made an impact and difference.

Subject: [Teachldsseminary] QUESTION

I too am asking myself today "Where did I go wrong?". I have been so
discouraged lately in my Seminary calling. This is my first year to
teach here. I have 22 Freshmen and Sophomores. The other teacher quit
after 4 years. I am sure she was a wonderful teacher. I dont have any
problems with my Freshmen, but the Sophomores are constantly comparing
what I do and the way I do it to their old teacher. I have heard over
and over "Thats not the way Sister X did it"...or "Scripture Mastery was
so much easier with Sister X". I can usually shrug it off, but this week
it has really gotten to me. I am not Sister X and never will be. I have
questioned her about how she did things and from what I can tell, I am
doing many things quite similarly. Anyway...I just wondered if any of
you have had this problem and how you might have handled it. I know
discouragement is one of Satan's tools. I dont want to give in to
him...I am just perplexed I guess. ~Terisa
