This method works in Microsoft Word; I assume you could do something similar
in WordPerfect.

1. Block select the text you want to convert to first letter.
2. Format > Change Case > Title Case.  All words should now start with an
upper case letter.
3. Ctrl-H (Edit > Replace).
4. In the find what field, type a single 'a' (no quotes).
5. In the Replace with field, type an underscore _.
6. Click More to open the replace options.
7. Check 'Match Case.'
8. Click 'Replace All' and answer yes if prompted to restart at the
beginning of the document.
9. Type 'b' over the 'a' in the Find What field
10. Repeat steps 8 & 9 until you go through the entire alphabet.
