I feel so unorganized about Scripture Mastery. I need to do it on a regular basis but sometimes dont make enough time for it in the mornings. I thought about putting another student in charge of it...have him or her lead the scripture mastery each day, pass others off, keep records, etc. I'm just not sure. But anyway...how do you play Scripture Man??? ~terisa in wyoming

prepare and reflect on my classes and teaching methods since we started
on Aug. 7th. I LOVE my 2 active students and I even love the other 2
that show up once every 2 wks. :-) I've reflected on the "game"
Scripture Man that we played the last Friday before break. My students
LOVED it and had so much fun with it. One that day, I had 3 students.
One young lady hadn't been there in 2 1/2 wks., and came without her
scriptures that day, so it was a little hard for her to participate, but
she tried with my scriptures. What I'm reflecting on is the 2 girls
that were there. We haven't learned all of the SM yet and haven't even
touched on some of them. The reason.........my attendance varies from
1-4 people and for some reason I feel like I need to "wait" on some of
them before I go over a new SM. I sometimes feel that when I have the
ONE young lady that comes everyday, and I do a new SM with her, then the
others are getting left behind. But in another sense, it's not fair to
her to keep waiting on the others. Anyway, while playing Scripture Man
the girls found the scriptures quickly from the clues I gave, or the
historical background. At the beginning of Seminary this year, I
purchased the SM stickers from Ken Alfords web site and told the girls
they could use them if they wanted to. They didn't have to. They were
thrilled to mark their scriptures and use the stickers. At the end of
Scripture man on that day, one of the girls told me.........I wouldn't
have been able to find them without the stickers. The other one told me
that she remembered what the sticker looked like for that historical
setting so she was able to find it.
As I've reflected this week, I've worried that I haven't been teaching
SM the correct way. I know it's early in the years and I"m grateful
that they were able to find the scripture with the sticker. But in the
same sense I worry that I haven't taught them well enough where the
scripture reference is, or the keywords.
My question..........will it come to them with the remainder of the
year, or should I be trying a different method for teaching them the
SM. So far we have gone over 7 SM and they have memorized 5 of them.
Even on some of the ones they memorized, when I gave the clue, or
setting, they looked at me as if they were puzzled. Then I could see
them mouthing the scripture, then they would find.
Any suggestions? Any techniques that would help? I appreciate this
list and all of the suggestions.
Thanks in advance,
Debbie
