[Teachldsseminary] QUES: Lesson plans

I am just two months into my first year so take this for whatever it is
worth...
Like Bev, who also responded, I try to put many of my notes in my scriptures
so that the students see me teaching primarily from the scriptures and know
that they should be following along and marking theirs as well. The side
benefit is that by the end of this year I will likely be able teach a Sunday
School class on any section of the D&C with only about 5 minutes notice. In
addition to that, I do allow myself just one page of notes for each day of
class. I restrict it to no more than one page and I study it so that I only
have to refer to it occasionally during the class to make sure that I
haven't missed something I wanted to cover.
That said, I do feel the need to do a very simple lesson plan. I've
attached a sample of my weekly lesson plan form that I use (more or less the
one that my stake supervisor provided so it isn't anything original). I
need it to keep track of what I've covered and where I'm headed. It only
takes me a few minutes each night to keep it up to date and it serves
several purposes in addition to lesson planning: it is my school calendar,
birthday calendar, and reminder of what to bring on what day. Finally,
since I have it laid out for the whole year, if I hear a talk (as I did in
Gen Conf) that I want to use in a future section, I just note it out in time
and when I get there - I'll know where to look.

Am I the only person NOT making a written lesson plan each day? I think
it's GREAT, WONDERFUL, and SUPER that you all write out plan, from the
opening prayer, to the closing prayer. I don't seem to be that organized.
Studying, for me, takes enough time. ;-)
