I am also sending this to the LDS seminary files and Tim said he's post it
right away if you want the attached version. Otherwise, here it is.
Hopefully I caught the awkward wording! I am letting them use scriptures
(several have a reference that was used) and their notes. You may have
heard more SM than I did as I was quickly typing away!

**YOU MAY USE YOUR SCRIPTURES AS WELL AS YOUR NOTES!

WHAT IS THE SUBJECT?

100 Elder Ballard started his talk about the Book of Mormon prophet
Jacob. He quoted some of the last counsel Jacob had for his people that is
found in Jacob 6:12 as the subject of his talk. What are those words? O be
wise, what can I say more?

200 Bishop Edgley quoted Alma 27:27 as the subject of his talk. What was
his talk about based on that scripture? Being perfectly honest and upright
in all things, firm in the faith of Christ, even unto the end.

300 Elder Dallin H. Oaks told us that the Savior healed in many ways
including those whose sicknesses that were emotional, mental and spiritual.
What was the subject of his talk based on Matthew 11:28-30? Come unto Me,
all ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

400 Elder Nelson told us we were part of a great movement. What was the
subject of his talk? The Gathering of scattered Israel

500 Elder Bowen talked about the Idaho Falls Airport and Freeman Park
nearby which was a beautiful place to walk to see the Idaho Falls temple in
the distance. He said they were both built on same kind of ground, ground
that used to be sanitary landfills. There was garbage buried between layers
of earth and this was now reclaimed land. He said no one would have the
right or would want to dig up old garbage. What subject did he use this an
analogy for? The atonement is available to each of us, infinite, and
applies to even you. It can clean, reclaim and sanctify even you. Infinite
means total, complete, forever. An additional quote: He quoted Boyd K.
Packer who said, “There is no habit, no addiction, no rebellion, no
transgression, no offense exempted from the promise of complete
forgiveness.” That is the miracle of the atonement of Jesus Christ!

WHAT DID HE SAY?

100 Elder Wirthlin spoke about his beloved recently deceased wife,
Alissa. He said it was love at first sight and they walked through life for
65 years. She was an English major but what were her first words to him?
“I knew who you was.” Additional information that was endearing: She played
tennis and had a lightning serve. He finally gave up playing with her
because he said, “I could not hit what I could not see.”

200 According to Elder L. Tom Perry, where did we first hear of the plan
of Salvation? We first heard plan of salvation before we were born. He
said, “We know that we lived there as spirit children and made certain steps
of advancement for opportunity to house our spirits in our body.”

300 Sister Elaine Dalton of the YW Pres said when her first grandchild
was born they all ran to hospital. As they looked in the nursery, they
could see the great eternal plan. Her youngest son Chad with her. What did
she ask him? Do you understand why it’s so important to remain clean and
pure? He replied “Yes mom, I get it.” Personal worthiness will qualify us
to fulfill our personal earthly missions.

400 Elder Nelson told that there is sign was that commenced the gathering
of Israel. That sign is also prophesied of in 3 Nephi 21. Name the sign.
Coming forth of the Book of Mormon.

500 Elder Packer spoke about being a standard of the world and then
quoted D&C 115:5 which is this year’s YW theme. Quote the theme: Arise and
shine forth that thy light may be a standard to the nations.

WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

100 Sister Lifferth from the General Primary Presidency talked about
making time for family prayer, scripture study and FHE as part of teaching
children who are open to gospel truths. Then she quoted 2 Nephi 25:26 and
told us to follow that. What does that scripture say we should do? Talk of
Christ, that our children may know what source they may look for a remission
of sins.

200 Elder Holland told us that General Conferences not only declare
truths to us but also declare three things to all the world. It declares
that there is again a living prophet on the earth, speaking in the name of
the Lord It also declares to the world that Jesus is the Christ and that He
and His Father appeared to the boy prophet Joseph Smith. What did he say we
should do with what is at conference based on the 150th anniversary of the
Handcart Companies? Each conference marks a call to action in our lives and
those around us. It may not be blizzards that we face this conference but
needy still out there, poor and weary, falling into forbidden paths and
multitudes who are kept from truth. All of them are out there with feeble
knees, hands that hand down and bad weather setting in. They can be rescued
by those who have more and know more and can help more. They are
everywhere. Take our team and wagon and load it with love, testimony and
spiritual sack of flour and drive in any direction and the Lord will guide
you to them. Open heart and hand to those trapped in 20th century like the
equivalent of Martin’s Cove and Devil’s Gate.

300 Elder Robert D. Hales told us that as Lehi searched the plates, he
learned who we are, what we can become, prophecies for us, ordinances and
covenants we must obtain for eternal life and how to return to our Father.
He and Nephi both got visions that the word of God is the rod of iron. He
told us we should take hold of the scriptures and do what with them? Cling
to them, live by them, rejoice, feast, don’t nibble. Interesting addition:
He said that if the Savior were here on earth today, he would teach us from
the scriptures like he did when he walked upon the earth. He opened up the
scriptures to his disciples.

400 Elder Bednar spoke about visiting many less active homes and finding
a theme of being offended as a reason for inactivity. He told us it is
impossible to be offended by someone else, but it is a choice we make, not a
condition inflicted or imposed upon us by someone or something else. What
did he tell us to do with his talk? Please identify a person you know who
is less active and may have been offended and even give them his talk and
extend an invitation to come back and worship with us.

500 Elder Scott spoke about rock climbing. He said that some people do
soloing – which is by themselves without protection. They do it for the
thrill and living on the edge. But in time they will fall and be injured.
He said that is the same as those living on their own in this world. Do not
solo in life. You will almost certainly fall into transgression. The safer
way to rock climb is in pairs. Name something used in rock climbing and
what analogy he used for us in his talk. Anchors a few feet apart every few
feet apart. Anchors are laws of God that provide protection. Carabiner
hooks rope to the anchor. Rope and carabiners represent obedience to those
commandments. A belayer is a second person or a companion who is in a solid
position to loosen or tighten the rope. Let your belayer be the Savior,
leads you over the anchors of life.

STORY TOLD!

100 Elder Uchtdorf spoke about testimony and the power of righteous
motives: After WW II, his family lived in occupied East Germany. He had to
learn Russian. As time went on, he did okay with it. When he turned 11
they had to leave overnight because of politics of father. They had to go
to West Germany and he was required to learn English. English was
impossible to learn. He thought his mouth was not made for speaking
English. He knew English was not his language. Then something changed.
What changed for him? Almost daily he rode his bike to the airport. He
read and studied aviation. It was his desire to become a pilot. He could
picture himself in cockpit of airline or military plane. He felt this was
his thing. Then he learned to become a pilot he needed to learn to speak
English. Overnight his mouth changed, and he was able to learn English
because of a righteous and strong motive.

200 Tell the story Pres. Monson told of what a group of YW did for one of
their group, Jamie Palmer, 13 years ago. 13 years ago, Pres. Monson was
privilege to provide a blessing to Jamie Palmer, diagnosed with cancer. She
underwent surgery and chemotherapy. Today is cancer free and 26 years old.
In her darkest hour, when future appeared grim, she learned that her leg
would require multiple surgeries. A long hike was planned to Timpanogos
Caves by her YW but it was out of the question she thought. Jamie told her
friends to take the hike without her. They told her, no, you are going with
us. We will carry you to the top and they did. The hike is a memory but it
is much more. None of those women will forget that memorable day of
service.

300 Elder Edgley showed a picture of his 14 year old Hudson car that he
used when he worked in a new lodge in Wyoming one summer. Tell the story of
what was in the back seat. His father saw three towels from the lodge, the
kind you cannot buy. He was disappointed in me. I drove 170 miles back to
take back the towels. Many CEOs dishonest and many 1000s lose jobs and
pensions. Hear of students who cheat, medical school students who have
victims. He also said, Lack of integrity is based on greed, arrogance and
disrespect.

400 Robert Oaks spoke on patience and charity. He told the story of a
friend related at his father’s funeral that showed patience. Tell the
story. When the son was young, his father owned a motorcycle shop and
bought several new motorcycles. He climbed up on one of the motorcycles and
played on it. He started it up and when he got down, he hit something and
all bikes in the row fell down. His dad saw it and said we’ll have to fix
one and sell it so we can pay for the rest of them.

500 Elder Clarke told the story of his Grandfather Larsen who went blind.
How did the Lord help him out of an extreme difficulty in 1919? He had a
mortgage on his farm. He would have to pay $195 to carry mortgage over for
another year. Paying this bill was like demanding a pound of flesh. He
butchered cows. He had extended credit to his neighbors but none of them
could repay him. It looked as though we would lose the farm. Then a
letter came from Jim Drinkwater a small, crippled man. He said that Brother
Larsen was on his mind and he felt he needed to give him $200 to help him.
Brother Larsen went to his house that night and Brother Drinkwater said,
“Brother Larsen, I received a wireless message from heaven this morning and
I was sure you were in financial trouble. They paid the $195 mortgage and
spent the $5 extra on Christmas.

SCRIPTURE MASTERIES

100 Elder Perkins told us that only Satan will cause you to feel of no
value. Then he quoted this scripture Mastery on the your worth to God. D&C
18:10,15-16

200 Elder Merrill told us to how to receiving more blessings. He said
receiving is a verb that requires action. We should seek for spiritual
things, feel and then quoted a phrase from a SM that said revelation comes
to the mind and heart and most often is felt. Name that SM. D&C 8:2-3.

300 Elder Perkins said that we must forgive ourselves of sins and
imperfections and that Heavenly Father knew we would make mistakes. Then he
quoted which SM on forgiveness. D&C 64:9-11

400 Elder Dalton spoke about what is found in D&C 119 and also a the
subject of our SM in D&C 64:23. What did he speak on? Tithing

500 Elder Keith Edwards told us that through our suffering, we can get
insights into the Savior’s suffering. Then he quoted which scripture
mastery. D&C 19:16-19

DOUBLE JEOPARDY

FUNNY THING!

200 Elder Cadon of the 70, spoke about moving into a new home. One
morning his two sons came to him. What did the older son learn in primary
that he wanted his father to do? He learned in primary that if you hold the
priesthood you can move mountains. His younger brother didn’t believe him.
He told him, “You hold the priesthood don’t you?” He looked at the window
at the mountains and said, “Show him.”

400 Elder Wirthlin talked about his family. He said in 1938 his father
was called by Pres. Heber J. Grant to be in Presiding Bishopric as a
counselor to LeGrand Richards. What was his response that got a chuckle?
He asked to pray about it first, but Pres. Grant said he only 30 minutes
before session of conference and needed an answer. He said yes and served
30 years.

600 When Elder Winkel spoke, he told the story of the reward he gave his
eight year old son for learning the Articles of Faith. Tell that funny
story. In the city, there was an all night bowling alley and so we chose
our activity to begin at 5 in the morning. My son shook my shoulder very
early in the morning at 2:00 am. He did the same thing an hour later.
After sending him to bed a second time, and at 4:00 am got up and left for
the bowling alley. We had a wonderful time. Other things he said: I am one
of those parents who wishes he could do some things over. I don’t want to
lose any of my children. I want to be together forever. The temple gives
all of us extra hope of continuing and improving relationships even after
this life.

800 Elder Pieper lives in a branch in Moscow. His daughter, Clarissa was
preparing a talk and was worried about it. He told her at least she didn’t
have to speak in front of everyone at General Conference. What was her
advice to him? She said it will be okay, just pretend it’s a big branch he’s
speaking to.

1000 Elder Packer told of a funny thing asked of him by a Dr. Bennett at a
conference in Oregon. What was he asked? If Mormons had horns. Pres.
Packer said he combed his hair so they cannot be seen. Dr. Bennett was bald
and said they could never make a Mormon out of him!

LISTS GIVEN

200 Pres Faust said that disciple and discipline come from the same Latin
root word that means pupil. He quoted the primary song that said I am
Trying to be like Jesus. Then he listed several ways we can be like Jesus.
Name one.

1. He went about doing good – we can do something good every day if
look for opportunities.

2. He was the good shepherd – we can seek out less active.

3. He had compassion – we too can have compassion. We can mourn with
those who mourn.

4. We can stand as witnesses of God at all times.

5. Children came to him, our children need our care.

400 Elder Uchtdorf spoke about testimonies. He listed several things a
testimony should always include: Name one of those things.

1. God lives, our Father in Heaven and we are his children.

2. Jesus Christ is son of God and Savior of the World.

3. Joseph Smith is the prophet who restored gospel in latter days.

4. Book of Mormon is the word of God.

5. Gordon B. Hinckley and 12 are prophets, seers and revelators in the
latter days.

600 President Monson listed three ways we can effectively gain and
maintain a spiritual foundation of faith and a testimony of truth. Name
one.

1. Fortify foundation through prayer.

2. Study the scriptures and meditate day and night.

3. Service. It’s the service that counts!

800 Elder Baxter is from Scotland and said that missionaries knocked on
their door. They were immediately embraced by friendship and kindness by
members of new church family. He then gave three gospel fundamentals that
he wanted to pass on to other new members of the church. Name one of those:

1. The motivating transforming power is faith in Jesus Christ which
changes our outlook.

2. As we serve we grow. It is not what we receive that enriches our
lives but what we give.

3. Discipleship does not guarantee no storms in lives but faith will
help us stay steadfast and true.

1000 Elder Perkins from the 70, gave us five changes we can make in our
lives so that we can feel more of the love of God. Name one.

1. See yourself as a precious child of your Father in Heaven.

2. Rely on help from Jesus Christ.

3. Forgive yourself of sins and imperfections.

4. Sustain the hope of eternal life.

          5. Find joy each day in service.

WORDS OF OUR PROPHET

200 President Hinckley said the theme of his talk was to Go forward with
faith. Then he talked about some events from the restoration of the
church that showed the church moved forward with faith. Name one that he
mentioned that we have already talked about in seminary: Faith took Joseph
to the grove to pray, translate and publish the book of Mormon. Prayer
brought priesthood. Faith he organized church and set it on its course.
Gift of Joseph’s life as a testimony to the truth of this work.

400 What did President Hinckley call General Conference? A wonderful
miracle of people all over the world worshiping together the living God.

600 President Hinckley said that if he lived a few months longer he would
what? He would have served to an older age than any previous president of
the church.

800 What is the story behind the ring that President Hinckley held up to
us? The Manti Temple was under construction and George Paxman worked as a
finish carpenter. While hanging one of the heavy doors, George suffered a
strangulated hernia. Terrible pain. His wife laid him in a wagon and took
him to Provo where he died. She remained a widow the rest of her life.
One day, Pres. Hinckley noticed his wife was not wearing her wedding rings
but was wearing the golden wedding band, of her grandma, given to her by her
husband George. He then told the story of grandma Paxton, who one day in
spring, she was housecleaning and on shaking straw from mattress outside she
noticed the ring was gone. Looked everywhere. Only physical remembrance of
her beloved husband. She raked through straw with fingers but could not
find the ring. Tears fell. She went to her knees and prayed to help her
find the ring. When she opened her eyes and she looked down and there it
was.

1000 Pres. Hinckley said that he wrote something in his journal 34 years
ago. What did he write about? There were 300 downlinks for satellite
service to more than 300 stake centers. Now 6066 church satellites in 63
countries.

1000 What did Pres. Packer say happened July 26, 1847? It was the third
day in valley, Brigham Young and other leaders climbed a peak 1 ½ miles from
the conference center. It was a good place to view the valley. Heber C.
Kimball ad tied an old red handkerchief it to Willard Richards’ walking
stick and waved it as an ensign to the nations of the latter-day work. The
peak was named Ensign Peak.

OTHER SCRIPTURES

200 Elder Gibbons of the 70 said that our spirit knows what it is like to
live in celestial realms because that is where we came from. We know too
much and will not be happy with anything else. Then he quoted this Book of
Mormon Scripture Mastery from Alma about happiness. Alma 41:10 – wickedness
never was happiness.

400 Elder L. Tom Perry quoted a Book of Mormon Scripture Mastery that
says that this life is the time to prepare to meet God. Find that SM. Alma
34:32-34

600 Sister Dalton said she was married 38 years ago in the SL temple by
Pres. Hinckley. After their wedding, she and her new husband wrote down his
counsel to them which included: Remember prayers, pray as a couple and
family. Pay an honest tithing. Read scriptures daily and apply principles
learned. Then she quoted D&C 121:45 and said that would help them stay
worthy to reenter the temple and have the temple enter into them. What did
she quote? Let virtue garnish thoughts unceasingly.
