Putting a picture of Joseph Smith on the front of the journals is a great idea.  I'm thinking I'll use some of the sticky back transparencies and find a nice picture on the internet to print out on it.  The only place I've seen these transparencies that already have adhesive on them is at http://www.scrapsupply.com  They are so easy, just print, peel and stick.  The adhesive doesn't show through since it is solid.

They are made for scrapbooking so they are 12X12 but you could cut them in half and set your document settings for 12X6 paper, use the transparency or specialty paper setting when printing and don't touch them till they have dried a few minutes.  Make the pictures and wording fit on a 6X6 piece and you can get 4 pictures per sheet.  The last time I ordered them they were $4.89 for a 5-pack so they would be .25 per picture.
