In the D&C Annotated Scriptures -- the Teaching Emphasis for 59:9-10 has
this as a reference:
Our Sabbath-day behavior is a reflection of our commitment to honor and
worship God. By keeping the Sabbath day holy, we show God our willingness to
keep our covenants. Each Sabbath day we go to the Lord's house to worship
Him. While there we partake of the sacrament to remember Jesus Christ and
His Atonement. We renew our covenants and show that we are willing to repent
of our sins and mistakes.
(Preach My Gospel, p. 74)
There are several other references including the one of Justin Ruiz's
forfeit in the NCAA wrestling finals because they were held on Sunday.

I'm not sure of the reference, but I have in my notes that Elder Russel M. 
Nelson stated that if you would like to know where you stand spiritually, 
there are two yardsticks to measure yourself by: 1) What do you think about 
during the sacrament. 2) How do you treat the Sabbath day.
