Here is what we did, for 25 days, we used the sm for the devotionals. They
had to read the sm to the class, find a quote from a GA that would apply and
then give their own personal application. Most kids did really well, a few
blew it off, but they still had to get up and share something about the
scripture. I let them sign up which sm they wanted to own for the year.
After the first 25 days, After song and prayer, but before devotional, the
one person that owned the sm for the week had to lead us in reciting it
three times per day. It was also their job to come up with a game or
activity to help us memorize it. we have had simple things like having two
teams write it on the board one word at a time, erasing in from the board
one word at a time, charades, and even a few put to music. all created by
the kids themselves. every Friday was sm day. I had to pass it off to them,
and then one at a time, they had to pass it off to me. in bigger classes,
they wrote it in their journals and turned it into me and over the weekend I
would check it. We then would play a sm game. Five years of teaching, and
every class has had a different favorite game.Just keep trying new things.
