What is the Doctrine & Covenants Volume Seminary Scripture Mastery Resources packet?
Someone mentioned it in the previous email and I'd like to find out what it is and from where you can purchase it.
Thanks so much.

I just read a great talk at http://ce.byu.edu/cw/womensconference/archive/2004/pdf/VerlaSorensen2004-IKTMRL.pdf#search=%22lds%20plan%20of%20salvation%20powerpoint%20presentation%22 and the speaker talks about a technique that she has used to memorize Scripture.
This is what she said:
"I'm still reading the scriptures every day and memorizing them. Let's quote the theme:
"Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. For the Lord Jesus is my strength and my song. He also is become my salvation. Therefore, with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:3
A memory technique: Write a favourite scripture on a 3 x 5 card. Read the scripture three times.
Then, turn the 3 x 5 card over and write the first letter of every word with a space in between;
include all punctuation signs.
B, G i m s; I w t, a n b a: f t L J i m s a m s; h a i b m s.
T w j s y d w o o t w o s. Isaiah 12:2-3
Try saying the scripture at least five times just following the first letter of every word, referring
back to the scripture when you have to. After you have learned it, stop concentrating on it for a
week or two. Then revisit it. Keep following this pattern until it is in your long-term memory.
You'll never forget it, even when you are standing in front of a congregation. The Holy Ghost
will recall it to your mind whenever it is expedient. I recommend following a scripture-reading
schedule religiously".
I haven't tried it myself yet, but I thought that it was a good idea!

I just read this great talk about how to teach the Plan of Salvation: Robert England Lee, "Teaching Our Children the Plan of Salvation," Ensign, Sept. 2001, 33
It might give an idea for teaching the lesson this year!

Francisca's message mentioned the benefits of using "first letters" to help
memorize scriptures. To possibly save you some preparation time,
please note that...
"First Letter Cards" (already formatted the same size as the CES scripture
mastery cards) for all 25 Doctrine & Covenants scripture mastery scriptures
are found in the Doctrine & Covenants Volume 2 Seminary Scripture Mastery
Resources packet. There are first letter cards for all 13 of the Articles
of Faith,
too.
A formatted "First Letter" page (for all 25 Doctrine & Covenants scripture
mastery
scriptures -- listed on one page) is found in the Doctrine & Covenants
Volume 1
Seminary Scripture Mastery Resources packet.
For any "do-it-yourself-ers" on the list, I have included (below) the first
letters
for all 25 of the D&C scripture mastery scriptures.
Best wishes,
Ken Alford
