What I did for JSH was talked about
Joseph Smith...his characteristics...Had them pair up and come up with as many characteristics as they could about JS...and write them down. Then we talked about them...this went over VERY WELL...the kids realized just how much they know about him...and learned lots more. The spirit was very strong then. Then we talked about how he felt as a young boy not knowing where to turn to..and reading the verse in James 1:5...
The next day, as they entered the church, I met them with nice quiet music playing in teh foyer, and some other wuiet music playing in the gym...and handed them anotice that they were to get their journals and scriptures, and marking pencils...and a pen and go find a place by themselves, have a silent opening prayer and read over a Hymn...then silently read JSH 1:1-20...and eccentially had their own Joseph Smith moment... then to write their testimonies in their journals.
I had great feedback on this activity. Afterwards, we reconviened in teh class and talked about how JS was changed forever after wards..what he learned...and posted the poster that was in the Era a few months back...The Sacred Grove. It changed the world, let it change you...
