[Teachldsseminary] seating issues....

I divide the kids into zones and prayerfully select who should be the leader and who should be in the zone that month. Then I do it again the next month with an eye to mixing it up. The kids love knowing where they should sit and the shy ones aren't filled with anxiety about who is sitting with who and where they should sit. I've never had a complaint in 3 years but many nods of approval. It mixes up the stronger ones so they are not sitting all together for competitions. And some times they are with their best friends and sometimes they are not and it's no big deal.
I know they are high school students, but my experience with teaching in the public school system is that the classes that have seating plans were more orderly and productive. "My house is a house of order:)"
I know that as an unpopular teen, I was always less stressed out when I knew where I was to sit. Not knowing who was going to be around me or who I should choose to sit by gave me a stomach ache.
I claim the privilege of having a seating plan for my class and allow all other teachers the same privilege. Let them seat them how, where or what they may.
